Competition in the compact luxury sedan category has never been more intense. At Allen Turner Genesis of Pensacola, Florida, we’re proud of our Genesis G70,  a bold new option that is  challenging established players like the BMW 3 Series.

If you’re looking for a luxury sedan, you might find yourself pondering the features of the Genesis G70 vs. the BMW 3 Series. The team at Allen Turner has put together this guide to compare the two options in luxury, performance, and value, to help you decide which sedan belongs in your driveway.

Performance and Driving Experience

Auto enthusiasts have many preferences when choosing a new compact luxury sedan, but often, the decision comes down to performance and driving experience. This is true when looking at the BMW 3 series vs. Genesis G70, both of which have head-turning features.

Engine Options

The G70 offers drivers the choice between two engine options. The first is the 2.5-liter Turbocharged Inline-4, a gas direct injection engine that generates 300 horsepower with 311 lb-ft of torque with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The engine comes in either rear-wheel drive, registering 21 mpg in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway for a combined rating of 24 mpg, or all-wheel drive, rated at 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway for a combined 23 mpg. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about six seconds, according to Car and Driver.

The second option is the 3.3-liter Twin-Turbocharged V-6 GDI, which tops at 365 horsepower with 376 lb-ft of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This car goes to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.  The rear-wheel drive configuration gets 17 mpg in city driving and 25 mpg on the highway for a combined rating of 20 mpg; the all-wheel drive gets a similar 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway for 19 mpg combined.

BMW 3 Series

The BMW 330i and BMW M340i, direct competitors to the Genesis G70, also run on turbocharged engines. In the 330i, you’ll enjoy 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque with an eight-speed automatic transmission from a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline four-cylinder engine.

The 2025 BMW M340i runs on a 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine combined with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. That vehicle puts out 386 horsepower with 398 lb-ft of torque, according to Kelley Blue Book. Fuel efficiency ratings range from 29 mpg to 31 mpg combined.

Interior and Comfort Comparisons

One of the big advantages of driving a luxury vehicle is the ability to ride in style. Both cars feature premium materials and several added features that bring the utmost in comfort. In this section of our guide, we compare the Genesis G70 vs. the BMW 3 Series and look at interior and comfort comparisons.

2025 Genesis G70

The G70 offers standard leather upholstery with an option to upgrade to available Nappa leather for a higher-level experience. The front seats are power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated; passengers will enjoy heated outboard rear seats.

The infotainment system is built around a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, where you can access your mobile phone apps for listening to podcasts and music playlists over a 15-speaker Lexicon premium audio system. Monitor the systems in your car through a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster or via a head-up display. Protect your investment through over-the-air software upgrades.

Other key features include two zones for automatic climate control and ambient internal lighting, with options for illuminated door scruff plates and a reversible cargo tray.

2025 BMW 330i and M340i

BMW’s competing models offer only heated front seats, but you’ll also appreciate the heated steering wheel if you select this option. You can upgrade from standard synthetic leather to the available Versnasca leather upholstery. The cars similarly offer ambient interior lighting and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Technology-wise, the two cars offer a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, using the BMW operating system 8.5.  Play music, radio, or podcasts over an optional Harman Kardon surround sound system. The BMW 3 series also comes with improved sound insulation.

Safety and Reliability

Luxury automakers understand that you are making a significant investment and trusting them with your safety. Both the Genesis G70 and BMW 3 series cars come with a range of cutting-edge safety features so you can drive with peace of mind.

The G70 offers forward collision avoidance, blind-spot collision avoidance, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and a surround-view monitor. Another nice feature is rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assistance.

By comparison, the BMW 330i and M340i include automated emergency braking to detect collisions, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, blind-sport monitoring, and traffic-jam assist. The cars also include an active protection system, which senses a collision and responds by tightening seat belts and closing windows.

Pricing and Value

The Genesis G70 generally has a broader range of manufacturer’s suggested retail prices than the BMW series. The Genesis sedan starts at $43,850 for the base level standard trim, topping at $52,300 for the 3.3-liter sport advanced trim.

By comparison, the 2025 BMW 330i has a starting MSRP of $46,675, topping out at $49,125; the M340i starts at $61,375, with the all-wheel drive on the market at an MSRP of $63,375. The higher prices reflect a premium for the BMW brand name and the line’s legacy track record for performance.
